Happy New Year!

Yes, I'm aware of the fact that we're almost an entire week into the New Year already... but it isn't too late to wish you all a very happy 2012, is it?
This week, I've been very busy working at M's to get her collection ready for ehm... the trade show by the end of this month. It's great to do but it obviously cut deeply into my personal sewing time and mojo, not to mention daylight hours.
Of daylight hours, we've had preciously little this week anyway (yes, I know I shouldn't complain. the daylight situation is obviously much worse for those of you who live further north, say, in Scandinavia or Canada).
The Netherlands (and a big part of nothern Europe, especially along the coastlines) have been hit by an authentic autumn storm. Very seasonal for Januari... It's not cold, but it's cloudy, rainy and very, very windy. Keeping with Dutch tradition on these issues, there are high water warnings in some parts of the country. This may sound very serious indeed but it's in fact a fairly regular thing (last time we had this was in 2007, it's been unusually quiet for the past few years). Just part of having more than half the country below sea level.

Explanations about the wheather aside, I guess what I'm trying to tell you is this: I wanted to write some nice, interesting, entertaining, meaningful posts earlier this week but I didn't have time. I wanted to show you the little dress I made on Saturday afternoon to wear to that evening's New Year's Eve party, but I haven't had the chance to take pictures.
I will take that picture this weekend.
For now, I'm just showing this old holiday picture which has become the target of Photoshop experimentation (though not as much as you may think. this is the original).

I you like this kind of stuff, I may share more later. At least it is some sort of proof that, despite my clumsy self-timer pictures here, I really do know something about photography.

I'll be back soon with some proper musing on sewing plans for this new year.

Here in France we have had an unusual stormy weather too this week and it has not been as cold as it should be. Are we realy on a sewing blog that we both talk about our respective weather issues lol
Looking forward to see more of your skillfully drafted garments this year.

  3. Happy New Year to you too! And here in Sydney, Australia we seem to have only had 1 week or less of true summer weather so far... and huge amounts of rain. Seems to be everywhere?

  4. Wishing you a creative and productive year of happy sewing; sewing things that you can enjoy too, Lauriana! Are you able to show here pictures of the garments you have been working on for your professional life too? It would be so interesting to see some examples of the cutting edge of Dutch fashion...

  5. Happy New Year! We've just come back from Antwerp so we experienced the storm... and I thought Texas hurricane winds were crazy but these were almost worse. I love your photo--beautiful light through the archway.
