Why do I talk down my dummy like that, you wonder? Well... I couldn't actually close this dress on her. Yep, her minimum bust circumference is still a bit bigger than mine and her breasts are not at the same height relative to the shoulder. I'm glad I bought her second hand, quite cheaply, because she mostly does service as a fancy clothes-hanger. I am planning on making an actual tape-body-double someday soon though. I've already enlisted E's cooperation, when I was complaining about how much easier it would be to envision techical workings of the bodice for this dress on a proper dummy.
I just wanted to tell you that this is my favorite of all your projects I've seen so far. It looks like you just stepped out of a movie!
ReplyDeleteYou made a beautiful dress. One of my favorites too!
ReplyDeleteLove Love the dress! And I have the same problem with my dress form. My bust height is much different than the dress form and my apex to apex is off too, also the shoulder to waist length is off. Makes it really hard to use for a close fit bodice.
ReplyDeleteGreat dress. The fit and pattern are wonderful. The hat is perfect with it.
ReplyDeleteI love this dress! I've never really had an interest in vintage, but I could see myself in this style of dress! It is absolutely divine!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful creation! You didn't tell us the pattern maker & number, did you?
ReplyDeleteI was planning to buy a dress form like yours on the weekend (they were on sale) but lucky I took my tape measure! Bust point way, way too high, back waist too long, and upper chest too large. And this was the smallest size! So of course I did not buy it :(
ReplyDeleteLove the dress!!
Very nice! Love the fabric too - didn't realise it had blue in it when you first posted!
ReplyDeleteStunning in all respects. I love the fabric!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stylin' outfit!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise the fabric was blue either... Lovely bust detail. I have exactly the same problem with my dressmakers dummy, but I still use her all the time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress, just in my style, not to mention a hat with it :))
ReplyDeleteBTW it looks much better on you than on a dummy :))

ReplyDeleteGreat dress. My dummy needs to lose a few pounds to match me as well. I'm going to put her on a diet.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a perfect dress, well done, it looks fantastic on you :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
