drape-neck top

Just a quick post, since this turns out to be a week with way less time for sewing or blogging than I expected.
I finished this top literally minutes ago, which explains the not-so-great picture: I didn't keep trying until I had a decent one.
The fabric is a very thin, and ever-so-slightly sheer olive/brown cotton jersey from my stash. I pattern is one drafted last winter, made up in orange knit and blogged about here. Although I love the look of the first top, the fabric is just a bit too synthetic for my liking. This new one may be less striking but it will go well with my planned colours for autumn/winter.

I have another fabric in my stash which would work well with this design (and I'm thinking of using it within the next two weeks). If you're interested, I'll do a how-to for it (pattern and sewing) then.

  3. I made an olive green top last autumn. It is a surprisingly versatile colour. I love the drape of your top. tutorials are always welcomed.

  5. Love tutorials and I've been saying to myself I need a cowl-neck, long-sleeved top, so please post away :). I like both versions---too bad the fabric in the orange one is a disappointment, it looks fabulous.

  6. Very pretty top -- you have such good taste with styles and colors, I pretty much like everything that you sew. I have recently gone on a binge knit fabric shopping spree and have been looking at Burda and Patrones for interesting knit tops -- nothing as good as the one you made! So, if you do a tutorial of your pattern, I would love to draft my own like yours.

  7. This top looks really good on you; it is a style I think would suit me too, perhaps I should try it out :) The colour is gorgeous. I love the muddy sombre olive contrasted against the cheerful brightness of your tomato red skirt. Stunning!
